Simulate a Cam and Valve Assembly (Autodesk Inventor 2012 Tutorial)

Serial No. 138 Simulate a Cam and Valve Assembly (Autodesk Inventor 2012 Tutorial) Autodesk Wiki Help Tutorial In this tutorial, you simulate a cam, valve, and spring mechanism. You determine thecontact forces between the cam and valve, the forces in the spring, and the torquerequired to drive the cam.In addition, you view the simulation results in the Output Grapher, and export thesimulation data to Microsoft Excel. Topics in this video • About this tutorial• Open Assembly• Activate Dynamic Simulation• Automatic Joint Creation• Define Gravity• Insert a Spring• Define the Spring Properties• Run the Simulation• Insert a Contact Joint• Edit the Joint Properties• Add Imposed Motion• View the Simulation Results• View the Simulation Results (continued)• Export the Data• Summary   Click the following link to get the model file: – http://bit.ly/2ojFcth

Rendering and 2D drawing View of Anvil with dimensions

These are the Renderings and 2D drawing views of my previously created model Anvil.   Rendering of the model is done by utilising the Visual Styles tool that is available on Appearance panel of the View tab in Autodesk Inventor. View Full Album The 2D drawing views shows the step by step modelling process of Anvil that you can mimic and re-create the mode yourself. Documenting a Positional Representation Using Overlay View

By using overlay drawing view any one can document Positional Representations in Autodesk Inventor. Positional Representations are used to show an assembly in multiple positions by overriding assembly constrains. First I took my previously created model Almirah (Mini Size) and created two positional representations named Open and Closed respectively. Then I documented the same in a drawing file using overlay drawing view. Following images shows the final result–

Drive Constraint-Simulate Mechanical Motion (Autodesk Inventor)

You can simulate mechanical motion by driving a constraint through a beginning position and an ending position according to the intent of design. Generally offset and angle constraints are selected to drive components within an assembly. To begin, select a constrain in the browser, right-click the constraint, and then select Drive Constraint from the context menu. The Drive Constraint dialog box opens. In Start, enter the beginning value. In End, enter the ending value. Click more to set additional options. The videos present in the following playlist shows the application of drive constraint. …………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………… Related Previous Posts Bevel Gear-Drive Constraint Autodesk Inventor 2010 Helical Gear-Drive Constraint Autodesk Inventor 2010 Worm Gear-Drive Constraint Autodesk Inventor 2010 Rack and Pinion-Drive Constraint Autodesk Inventor 2010 Door (Panel with Frame) -Drive Constraint Autodesk Inventor 2010 Pipe Wrench-Drive Constraint Autodesk Inventor 2010

Using equations in Autodesk Inventor

If you want to use equations in the Autodesk Inventor then first write it down in Microsoft Office using insert equation tool. Then change the equation option to linear. Now make changes according to following link (valid formula syntax and abbreviations can be used in Autodesk Inventor). Now you can use your equations without any error. Take a look on the following page too to get an overall knowledge how equations are written in Autoedsk Inventor. Formulas for “Everyday” Use.
